Welcome Address – Korea Clinical Datathon 2026
Welcome message for the Korea Clinical Datathon 2026
Greetings
Dear participants,
It is a great honor to welcome you to the Korea Clinical Datathon 2026, jointly hosted by Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), now in its fifth iteration since 2018.
The theme of this year's Datathon is “Agentic AI: Light and Shadow.”
AI no longer simply answers our questions; now it plans, uses tools, and works with us. But this automation can deskill our expertise, return biased or hallucinated answers, and let one mistake propagate silently through our workflow. When an agent acts on our behalf, who is accountable? How can we use them safely?
We therefore ask you to build with agents, and to probe them: where do they fail, and how would we know? Participants will work with the K-MIMIC multicenter critical care dataset and several other datasets, including CDM data on deceased patients from Asan Medical Center and Seoul National University Hospital.
We gather this year in Pyeongchang, a beautiful mountain city. The mountains and crisp autumn air will inspire us to think deeply, hack boldly, and rest well. As always, the Datathon is a festival of collaboration and friendship, with mentors from Korea and abroad.
We sincerely hope KCD 2026 will be remembered as the place where we saw both the light and the shadow of agentic AI with clear eyes. Once again, we warmly welcome you all.
Thank you.
